Wedding Musicians & Civil Ceremonies
Mention the words wedding musicians and the idea of a band playing for an evening of dinner dance music, not forgetting the singer, comes to mind. However, there are other parts of a wedding where musicians are useful - especially during the wedding ceremony itself. As the guests are gathering in the ceremony room and waiting for the Bride which can sometimes take longer than expected.
The Bride's entrance music isn't quite the same played on a CD as it is played live and the atmosphere that live musicians create is very different compared to music that has been pre-recorded.
In the regular civil ceremony there is the Bridal entrance, the signing of the register, which can take around 10 to 15 minutes and of course the exit of the Bride and Groom, all of which are improved with live musicians.
Music at these moments is taken for granted at a church wedding and is traditionally played by the organist however, more often these days wedding couples do hire other musicians for church ceremonies too.
An advantage of having live musicians is that the ceremony can be more professional. Musicians can bring pieces of music to an end properly when the Bride reaches the registrar's table rather than someone pressing the stop button on the CD player - a moment to be avoided!
So whether you decide to have wedding musicians at your civil ceremony or a CD player, there are numerous advantages in having musicians at at civil ceremony, and the cost may not be as much as you think!
